As a concert venue, we welcome every guest with warmth and gratitude, because awe-inspiring architecture and the best of modern acoustic engineering are only part of the mission. As a music school, we work with over 100 of the area’s most professional educators, each one an artist and mentor with an extensive pedagogical background. Our industry-leading selection of lessons, classes, and ensembles meets the needs of musicians at every level, all while giving students access to unique guest artist experiences and stunning performance stages.
As a community resource, we provide educational opportunities for underserved school districts and students in need, as well as vital enrichment services for memory care and hospice patients, free daytime concerts, and fresh opportunities to experience the benefits of artistic discovery.
Our home was designed by the award-winning Epstein Joslin Architects of Cambridge, MA, with acoustic tuning by Threshold Acoustics of Chicago. By partnering from the earliest stages of conception and construction, these two titans of modern venue engineering were able to build a truly unique space. The sound of our halls is modern, clear, and articulate, but maintains a warmth that envelopes guests and a flexibility that allows us to present artists in all genres of music.
The facility rises out of 110 hilltop acres, over 70 of which are agriculturally protected to preserve both the land and the roots of our community. The building is designed to feel like an organic part of the landscape, and uses a unique combination of wood, stone, glass, and steel to create vistas that evolve with the seasons. Natural light permeates our spaces, cutting dynamic lines that dance and inspire throughout the day. Massive laminated wooden beams curve away from audiences, holding guests close.

Groton Hill Music Center was founded by a small group of educators and chamber musicians in 1985 to blend the highest quality teaching and performance.
From its humble beginnings, this dedicated group worked hard to spread the joy of music, teaching and performing wherever they could. In 1996, they raised enough to purchase the first official home for our organization, then known as Indian Hill Music, in Littleton. There, they transformed a small farmstand into a blossoming school with 21 classrooms and the beautiful Blackman Hall for performances.
Through careful stewardship and raw determination, Indian Hill Music weathered storm after storm, touching more and more lives.
In 2014, after many years of close philanthropic collaboration, this humble nonprofit had earned the confidence of an anonymous donor who stepped forward with a unique vision to create a lasting arts legacy in Nashoba Valley. Together, they would plant the seeds of Groton Hill: a space large enough to serve New England with the highest level of community music education and stellar acoustic sound across two performance halls.
After years of dedicated planning and construction, Groton Hill Music Center was opened to the public in September, 2022, to rave reviews, and is now poised to transform the region as an anchor cultural institution and landmark destination dedicated to creating a feeling of belonging in everyone in our diverse community.
