“Flora, Fauna, and Flute”
19th Annual Summer Metropolitan Flute Festival Orchestra, directed by Paige Dashner Long, will present beautiful music inspired by nature, with works by Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, Cohen, Long, Rimsky-Korsakov, Fillmore, and others. This select ensemble is comprised of highly trained flutists, performing with multiple flutes spanning an amazing seven octaves, including piccolo, concert flute, alto flute, bass flute, contrabass flute, sub contrabass flute, and the rare Kotato double contrabass flute, one of four in the world! The Metropolitan Flute Orchestra has performed for prestigious events in New England and throughout the U.S., and has presented concert tours in England, Scotland, Iceland, France, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Belgium, and Luxembourg. From classical and sacred literature to jazz, folk songs, and show tunes, the ensemble has been delighting audiences since 1998.
