Christian Hoschek is a conservatory-trained violist and licensed Massachusetts music educator who has been a member of the Groton Hill Music Center faculty since 2018. His work combines professional musicianship with a thoughtful, student-centered approach to string education. He earned his B.M. in Viola Performance, magna cum laude, from Boston Conservatory in 2016 and his M.M.Ed. in Music Education from UMass Lowell in 2023.
As an educator, Christian emphasizes inquiry, experiential learning, musical independence, and a growth mindset, encouraging students to become active participants in their own development as musicians. He is deeply interested in the process of learning itself and in the intersection of music learning, cognition, and neuroscience. This interest informs his reflective approach to teaching and his commitment to continually refining his methods through research, professional development, and classroom experience.
Christian is a licensed bilingual music educator and teaches strings in both English and Spanish. He currently serves on the music faculty of Lynn Public Schools, where his work with students from a wide range of backgrounds and learning styles has strengthened his commitment to accessible and individualized music instruction. He has particular experience adapting string pedagogy to diverse learners while maintaining high musical and technical expectations for every student.
Outside of teaching, Christian enjoys playing chamber music with friends and colleagues and regularly participates in the Apple Hill Summer Chamber Music Workshop. He is also an avid cyclist with a particular interest in bicycle repair and in sharing his love of cycling with others.
