Cynthia Bliss
Piano, Organ, Accompanist

Teaching Philosophy
I approach private teaching by tailoring the program to the needs of the individual student and family, so no two students follow the same course of study. With very young students (pre-reading), it is an exploration of technique and musicianship through musical games. For school age students, I use classical music from all periods as the foundation for study, supplemented by other styles depending on student interest. In addition to repertoire, lessons include theory, ear training, technique, music history, and practice strategies, developing the student into an independent learner.Education
B.A., Smith College; M.S., University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Principal teachers: Vivian Taylor and Paula Fern (piano); Vernon Gotwals and Grant Moss (organ); Mallorie Chernin and Theo Morrison (conducting); William Wittig (flute)
