Teaching PhilosophyI approach private teaching by tailoring the program to the needs of the individual student and family, so no two students follow the same course of study. With very young students (pre-reading), it is an exploration of technique and musicianship through musical games. For school age students, I use classical music from all periods as the foundation for study, supplemented by other styles depending on student interest. In addition to repertoire, lessons include theory, ear training, technique, music history, and practice strategies, developing the student into an independent learner.
Cynthia Bliss is active in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire as an organist and conductor. A past dean of the Merrimack Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, she performs regularly at AGO concerts and workshops, and is a regular accompanist at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Middlesex Community College in Lowell, and the Music Academy of Chelmsford. Prior to teaching at Indian Hill, Cindy taught general music (pre-K-8), chorus, band, and drama at the Burke School in Tewksbury.
