Meet Our Faculty

Kathy McMinn is an award-winning music educator with over 35 years of experience. Her passion for choral music has been her motivation in developing several successful choruses that have pushed the potential of their singers. She directed the Federal Furnace Treble Chorus and was the founding director of the Plymouth Children’s Chorus, two guest choruses who performed with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra. Kathy founded South Shore Conservatory’s Pure Treble and Pure Harmony choruses. Both were accredited with performing with the Plymouth Philharmonic, the African Children’s Choir, and a special performance for then-Vice President Biden. She also directed the 2017 Plymouth Schools Elementary All Town Chorus and co-directed the Plymouth International Chorus in performances in Plymouth, Massachusetts and Plymouth, England.

Kathy was a volunteer with Music for Life, the parent organization for the Africa Children’s Choir in South Africa and Uganda. While in South Africa, she taught in the village schools, trained staff and directed the African Children’s Choir in local performances.  Kathy continued to volunteer with Music for Life in the United States, where she facilitated a program that brought local school and community choruses together in concert with the African Children’s Choir. She created a Plymouth district-wide chorus for this purpose. Kathy volunteers with Musicians On Call, singing bedside at Tufts Floating Hospital for Children. She sings with Sippican Choral Society and has also sung with the Pilgrim Festival Chorus and Kwaya Uganda.

Kathy is the recipient of the G. Herbert Clarke Award, the Plymouth Public Schools “Inspiration” Award, the Paul Harris Fellow through the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, and the Community Volunteer Award for Service Above Self. She is also the recipient of the 2011 Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award, the Plymouth County Education Association Honor Award and the Plymouth Cultural Council’s ARTY Award.
