Vladimir Gurin has taught in numerous disciplines, including music theory, ear training, music history, analysis of musical forms, arranging, conducting, and piano. A senior instructor in the College of Culture and Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, he developed experimental courses in “Music for the Theater and Cinema” and “Modern Russian Music.” He also composed music for the theater and popular singers, and won the 1988 All-Union TV Competition for Composers. During his teaching career in the U.S., he received First Prize in the 1998 Composer Competition “Unleash the Sound.” In addition to Indian Hill, Vladimir is on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory, Powers Music School, and the Groton School.
