Music Therapy is the clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. Music therapy interventions can address a variety of healthcare & educational goals:
While traditional music lessons focus on mastering an instrument and developing technical skills, music therapy uses music as a tool to support personal health and wellness. Guided by a board-certified professional, therapy sessions prioritize non-musical goals—such as communication, emotional expression, and cognitive growth—rather than musical performance.
No musical ability or skill is required to benefit from music therapy. The music therapist will choose the musical experience based on “the individual’s preferences, circumstances and need for treatment, and the client or patient’s goals”(AMTA).
We do not bill insurance directly or participate in insurance networks. Clients pay the full tuition for all sessions directly to the school upon enrollment.
We are happy to provide itemized receipts that you can submit to your insurance provider to seek independent reimbursement. We encourage you to contact your provider beforehand to verify your specific coverage and reimbursement process.
Groton Hill’s state-of-the-art facility is fully accessible and designed to provide a welcoming environment for all participants. No, you do not need to own or bring an instrument to participate. Groton Hill provides a wide variety of instruments and adaptive musical tools for use during your sessions. Kylie has worked in school-based music therapy groups from preschool up through post-grad high school, with the majority of that work being in pre-K through elementary school. She has also worked individually with clients who have intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, neurological conditions, medical complexities, neurodivergence, memory care, substance abuse recovery, women and their children in transition housing, children in early intervention, adults in memory care, infants in and transitioning out of the NICU, and students on IEPs.
Kylie’s additional trainings beyond her MT-BC (music therapist-board certified) are a Master’s in Music Therapy from University of the Pacific, where she underwent the Neurological Musical Therapy (NMT) training to become an affiliate, and Sprouting Melodies Training through Raising Harmony for early childhood music therapy groups. For 3 years now, Kylie has taught early childhood music classes at Groton Hill including beginner piano, music exploration for ages 1-4, and adaptive music exploration. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and music performance, and perform as a flutist around southern NH in the New Hampshire Philharmonic, Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra, and local chamber ensembles.
