Director, Collegium Musicum
Tim Terranella has performed as both cellist and flutist with many of Boston’s most prestigious musical organizations including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Esplanade Pops, New Hampshire Symphony, Cape Cod Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, Boston Academy of Music, Claflin Hill Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, and the Bostonian Chamber Players. He has also performed and recorded in the New York area as a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Tim has dedicated much of his professional experience to teaching the cello and flute and coaching chamber ensembles. He has served on the faculties of Boston University, Buckingham and Nichols School, and the Groton School.
Jessica Tunick Berens is a soprano with broad musical experience, performing Medieval chant, experimental music, standards, folk, Balkan, musical theater, and opera. She has performed at a variety of venues including the Greek Theater, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, Christchurch in Dublin, UMass Boston, and Helmut List Halle in Graz, Austria. Jessica is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts and holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in vocal performance, and is a Transformational Voice Institute certified voice teacher. Jessica’s operatic roles include among others, Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Philine (Mignon), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and Pamina (The Magic Flute). Jessica sings with the Sonic Liberation Players, a contemporary chamber ensemble in Boston that features and commissions new works by living composers. She is also soprano section leader for the world music ensemble Halalisa Singers. In addition to performing, Jessica runs voice clinics for area choirs, and is a children’s musical theater director and a private voice teacher.
Simeng Wu is a Chinese operatic soprano known for her passionate and resonant performances. She was the Gold Award recipient at the 7th International Chinese Vocal Competition in 2018 and was named a semifinalist in the Classical Singer Vocal Competition in May. Since 2023, she has been a proud member of Boston Lyric Opera. Born and raised in Shenyang, China, Simeng discovered her love for opera at the age of 17.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music and a Master’s degree in Opera from the Longy School of Music. Her lyric coloratura soprano voice spans a wide-ranging repertoire in Chinese, English, Italian, German, and French. She has performed works by Handel, Mozart, Donizetti, Beethoven, Verdi, Massenet, Puccini, Strauss, Britten, and Shi Guangnan.
In February 2024, Simeng performed in Collegium Musicum’s winter concert while nine months pregnant—a testament to her unwavering artistic commitment. Now the mother of a 15-month-old son, Jackson, she continues to balance motherhood with an evolving performing career. An adventurer at heart, Simeng is also a traditional Chinese dancer, international Latin dancer,
actor, and avid scuba diver. Through her venture, Simeng Wu Music, she brings cross-cultural artistry to life—and she received her second Master’s degree in May from Harvard University Extension School in Management.
