Olivia Ding is thrilled to be soloing with the Groton Hill Sinfonia Concert Orchestra as the winner of the 2026 Student Concerto Competition. Liv began playing the viola at age eight under the tutelage of Ms. Dorcas McCall (whom she still studies with today!) at Groton Hill. Since then, Liv has served as principal violist of the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association (MMEA) All-State and Central District Orchestras as well as the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has played in solo and chamber masterclasses with Danny Kim, Steve Ansell, Kee-Hyun Kim, Peter Zazofsky, and members of the Attacca Quartet. In 2025, Liv was among the students featured in Groton Hill’s Student Spotlight and played in their community concert. Liv is a senior at the Groton School in Groton, MA. In her free time, she enjoys writing, running, and doing stand-up comedy.
