Explore connecting to characters through your own experiences, deciphering the writer’s intention through detailed text analysis, and accessing the very real impact we have on one another as scene partners.

Acting is about sharing space and listening.

It is about embracing vulnerability and giving yourself over to the experience. Ultimately, it is about reacting, rather than acting itself.

All of these things can be daunting, but through this class, we will become more comfortable with the uncomfortable and learn to trust and embrace our emotional instincts.

This intensive does not require previous experience, but would benefit actors who are ready to work with scripted material as well as aspiring actors looking to get started.

Our first class will focus on foundational exercises, scene analysis, and theory. Students will partner up, with scenes assigned and tailored specifically to each duo. We’ll tackle cold reading, build trust as pairs, and work together to build confidence performing something “unfinished” in front of our peers. Students will receive notes and feedback throughout the process, with an emphasis on grounded performance and being present.

day two

Saturday
October 17, 2026

Our second class will dive deeper into scene breakdown and character work. Together, we’ll break open each scene to discover its core: what the characters want, what’s happening beneath the words, and what makes the scene come alive. Students will then share their work with the class (with the expectation of being off-book), culminating in a presentation for their peers and any family members who would like to attend.

Bebe Wood is a Cuban-American actor, musician, and songwriter from Kansas City, MO. She started acting professionally when she was 10 years old with one of her first roles playing opposite Tina Fey in an episode of 30 ROCK.

Now, 12 years later, she stars as Gretchen Wieners in Fey’s Mean Girls. Bebe is best known for her roles as Lake on Hulu’s critically praised Love, Victor, Shania in Ryan Murphy’s The New Normal and Shannon on ABC’s The Real O’Neals. She has also lent her voice to a plethora of Guillermo del Toro’s animated series and films in the Tales of Arcadia universe.
