Coaching, collaboration, guest artists, performances, and fun this summer!

Week-long music programs for all ages and abilities!

All our programs focus on the benefits of artistic exploration, personal attention, and collaboration for musicians looking to grow and prepare for the next steps in their journey.

Some sessions even feature before- and after-care to make scheduling more convenient for families. 

Join us on our beautiful 110-acre campus in Groton for a week of inspiring music education. Our programs focus on personal growth and the intersection of practice and performance on our world-class stages.

Youth & Teen

Summer Arts Mashup

2 sessions! June 17 – 21 and August 5 – 9

9am – 3:30pm

Ages 6 – 12

Exploring music from around the world through dance, chorus, coding, art, and ukulele, all ending with an inspirational performance on our world class stages. This is a perfect opportunity for your child to explore the arts and technology in a warm, fun, and friendly stay-cation for the imagination!

Summer Music Explorers

2 sessions! June 24 – 28 and July 8 – 12

9am – 3pm

Ages 6 – 9

Make every day a musical adventure with Summer Music Explorers! Family and friends will be treated to a showcase performance at the end of each week. Get to know an instrument with small group instruction in piano, violin, ukulele, or percussion. For new and developing young musicians. Students will be grouped by age and skill level.
No previous experienced required.

Ivories & Bows

August 12 – 16, 9am – 3pm

Ages 8 – 13

A fun, collaborative program for young beginners who play either the piano or a bowed string instrument. Students learn in small chamber ensembles and duos, working with instructors and groups to understand how instruments mix and play off each other. The week will end with students on stage performing their pieces for family and friends! Students should have 1-3 years experience years of experience. 

Broadway Masterclass

July 15 – 19, 9am – 4pm

Ages 12 – 16

Broadway Masterclass at Groton Hill Music will engage students of all skill levels, exploring their creativity through acting, singing & movement. Featuring guest instructor HAMILTON’S Khiyon Hursey, students will learn and experience many key aspects of the theater world through workshops, private and small group coaching, solo & ensemble singing, character development in monologue, and song analysis. There will be a special focus on communication, teamwork, and self confidence in a positive and fun environment! The program culminates in a fun cabaret showcase performance.

Summer Jams

July 29 – August 2, 9am – 5pm

Ages 13 – 18

This exciting program allows you to let your musicianship and creativity shine while you sharpen your skills as a rock musician!
Featuring guest instructor Will Dailey, we will cover all the bases as you learn and perform classic and contemporary rock hits, including instrument technique, ensemble skills, arrangement, balance, segues, cues, changes, and more! Students will be encouraged to take leadership roles, and guide their fellow band members through a song. The focus of the day changes frequently as students work in various settings – ensembles, instrument groups, and one-on-one with the instructors. The students will present a closing “Battle of the Bands” concert on Friday afternoon which is open to the public.

Chamber Intensive

July 15 – 19, 9am – 5pm

Ages 13 – 18

An advanced chamber program led by our piano department chair, Christina Dietrich, and string department chair, Tim Terrenella. Sessions include personalized coaching, deep dives into performance skills, and a special masterclass with our GUEST. For students with 5+ years of experience and a performance skills video will be required upon registration.

Jazz Intensive

July 22 – 26, 9am – 5pm

Ages 13 – 18

An immersive jazz experience focused on improvisation and popular jazz idioms. Don’t miss a chance to learn from acclaimed guest artist Noah Preminger as part of this immersive jazz experience, culminating in a performance for friends and family. For students with 3+ years of experience, a performance skills video will be required upon registration. 

Piano Intensive

July 22 – 26, 9am – 5pm

Ages 13 – 18

This immersive piano program is designed to challenge the most motivated students in new and exciting ways with personalized coaching, deep dives into performance skills, and adjudication prep. This program will include coaching sessions, deep dive performance workshops, and masterclasses with guest artists A. Ramon Riviera and Konstantinos Papadakis. For students with 4+ years of experience.

Disney’s Frozen Jr.

August 12 – 23, 9am – 5pm

Ages 9 – 16

Come and experience an immersive, two-week musical production program to be performed on our Concert Hall stage! Be a part of our junior production of the acclaimed smash hit, Frozen! This program is for everyone! Dancers, singers, actors, stage crew, costumes, and crew, there is a place for all of you! In-Person Auditions will be on June 4th, 2024.

Looking for weekly classes for your young beginner instead? Groton Hill is proud to offer fun, inviting programs on an easier schedule, including Music for Aardvarks (Ages 1-4), Drum Buddies (Ages 4-6), and Beginner Piano for ages 5.5-6 or ages 7-9

Cabaret Spotlight

June 24 – 28, 6pm – 8:30pm

Ages 18+

An intimate and focused look at musical theater through a performance lens, paying particular attention to the legendary work of Steven Sondheim. Students will perform solo and in groups, selecting pieces from a variety of genres and hits. 

Summer Night Music

August 5 – 9, 6pm – 8:30pm

Ages 18+

Adult intermediate to advanced string, woodwind, piano, harp, and classical guitar students come together to perform chamber music, with a closing performance on the intimate and stunning Meadow Hall stage. 

20th Annual Summer Metropolitan Flute Festival

July 11 – 14

Ages 18+

An intensive extended weekend for flute players at the upper intermediate through advanced levels with Director Paige Dashner Long. 

Need-based scholarships are available for all of our programs. Please complete the scholarship application form before enrolling, and then wait for our award confirmation, which will include instructions on how to enroll.

The Groton Hill campus features 2 world-class stages, 35 classrooms, 2 flexible performance spaces, outdoor seating, and 75 acres of protected farmland. The light-filled architecture encourages interactions between students and the artists who perform on our stages, letting us bring incredible talent into the classroom to give students unique experiences that will inspire them for years to come.
