19th Annual Summer Metropolitan Flute Festival Orchestra

A unique ensemble performance opportunity!

Thursday, 6/22 – Sunday 6/25

The 19th Annual Summer Metropolitan Flute Festival Orchestra, June 22-25, 2023 is a unique ensemble performance opportunity for university, advanced amateur and professional flutists concluding with a gala concert in the world class Concert Hall at Groton Hill Music Center on June 25. Utilizing the entire flute family from piccolo to double contrabass flute, the ensemble will perform a wide variety of interesting music. Performing alongside esteemed colleagues, participants create an astounding musical experience for all. The weekend combines large ensemble and smaller select ensemble rehearsals. Director Paige Dashner Long will bring her unique flute collection, including her Kotato double contrabass flute, and will select participants to use them during the weekend. The tuition includes lunch on Saturday. For detailed info contact Paige Dashner Long, contraflute@gmail.com

To audition:
Students will need to email a recent video or audio file(s). Please select something that best represents your musical skill and artistry, including both technical and lyrical passages. It’s fine to submit one piece, or two shorter pieces.  Also helpful is a letter describing your performance and ensemble experience, with a repertoire list of pieces most recently studied or performed.

Community adults and professional flutists should email their flute resume or letter describing training, performance experience and ensemble experience. Video or audio files are not required, but helpful.  All audition materials should be emailed to director Paige Long at contraflute@gmail.com
